Current Project

We are only weeks away from finishing this gorgeous one level home on an open 3 acre lot!  Take a peek as we are on the last leg of this journey…

This model is named the Logan II because it is the same floor plan as the home we built on Dutch Hollow (scroll down to see that project named the Logan) but it is almost 300 sf larger.  We changed the elevation so it has a reverse gable on the front to give it a different look.  Which elevation do you like better?

This project began in June 2018 when we purchased this beautiful 3 acre just outside of the town of Culpeper.  We loved the location with it’s rolling hills and pretty view of mountains in the distance.  Who wouldn’t want to look at this view every day?

To say we’ve been busy is an understatement!  I guess late is better than never!  This adorable home went under contract quickly and closed in early October, 2018.  Here are a few pictures along the journey of this build and the finished product!

August 7, 2018

It’s been over a month since we last posted, so a lot has been going on here on Eggbornsville Rd!  The house is up, under roof, and decked out in gorgeous twilight shadow siding.

Inside, all the rough-in for the HVAC, plumbing, and electrical has been completed.  The drywall has been hung and is almost finished with taping.  Next up is the stone on the porch, trim, and paint!

We’ve put a pocket door from the MBR closet to the laundry room.  How convenient is that?  The bathrooms will feature custom tile and the MBA will have dual vanities, arched shower and separate soaking tub.

The kitchen will be feature crisp white cabinets, granite counters, a pot-filler and upgraded Samsung, stainless steel appliances.  As always, the pantry and laundry room will be shown off with frosted specialty glass doors.

An unfinished basement with a full bath rough-in and a one-car garage provide extra space for future expansion.

Stop by and say hello!  We’d love to give you a tour!

We finally got a break in the weather and were able to get the concrete poured!  Walls are up and floor is being poured this week.  Framing should be begin by the end of the week too.  We are so glad to see this home beginning to take shape!  #patience #thankfulfordryweather

It’s been a very wet spring and all the rain has really dampened (pun intended!) our efforts to excavate the lot for our next project.  Hopefully soon, it’ll be dry enough to finish and get the foundation poured!  In the meantime, I’ve uploaded the front elevation rendering and the basic main level floor plan.  It will have a full basement with a one-car garage in the basement, under Bedroom #3 and slightly under the Great Room.  Many of the same standard features from our previous projects will be in this home as well.

We’ve broken ground on our next project in Rixeyville, VA.  This home will be almost 1500 sf on a one acre lot which backs to a 40+ acre parcel.  Conveniently located approximately 6 miles from the town of Culpeper and a small country store only .2 of a mile away!  We’ll feature architectural details in this home such as arched openings, granite counters, 42″ cabinets, hardwood flooring, separate shower in master bath and tiled bathrooms.  The floor plan offers the popular open concept and split bedroom design.  Come back to see the latest updates as we progress through this building project.

And….it’s a wrap!  The project on Dutch Hollow is complete and officially a new home for a lovely couple.  We thoroughly enjoyed this build project and are pleased with the outcome.  The buyers upgraded to hardwood flooring throughout the home and a gorgeous gas stove (I have to say, I’m a little envious of that stove!).  The arched openings and specialty laundry/pantry doors continue to be a favorite among buyers looking for new homes.  The stone fireplace and stone on the front of the home and chimney look even better than I imagined.  The masterbath tile work and arched shower look amazing!  Changing the hardware up to the oil rubbed bronze was a fun change and complimented the home nicely.

If you’re interested in building this home or maybe another floor plan, let us know!  We’d love to help another homeowner realize their dream of owning a new home.  Also, check out our next project, not far from this one, in Rixeyville.  It’ll be a similar floor plan, but slightly smaller on a one acre lot.  It may be smaller, but it’ll be accented with all the beautiful extras we always include in our homes!

May 13, 2018

Soooo….it’s been a while since I’ve posted!  We’ve been super busy finishing this home for the new owners-to-be!

I’ve posted a few of the photos I took over the last month, but we are now within days of finishing this project!  We chose oil rubbed bronze finishes for the fixtures and door knobs and they truly look elegant.  The master bath shower is a favorite of the people that have seen the house.  We used beautiful graphite birch finished hardwood floors throughout the home and similar tile that we used in the last home on the bathroom floors.  We selected some fun ceramic tile that looks like old brick for the hall bathtub with some subway tile to accent the tub.

The final inspection is this week and we’re looking to pass the keys off to the new owners before Memorial Day and then….on to the next project!  I’ll post the final pics later this week.  Thanks for stopping by!

April 15, 2018

Things are moving right along as we head into the home stretch!  The stone has been applied inside and outside and looks gorgeous!  The house has been painted and pointed up and just needs the touch ups to be completed.  The HVAC installation is complete.  We are very excited to have heat (in April–ahem) and A/C as needed!  Tile and hardwood will be installed this week and I’m super excited to see how they look!

The best part of last week is this lovely home has been chosen as the new home for a lovely couple!  We’re excited that someone has fallen in love with this home, affectionately named after our grandson, “The Logan”, and will be making it their own next month.

Please come back in a week or so to check out the progress!

March 25, 2018

We’ve been busy over here on Dutch Hollow Rd!  All the rough-in work has been completed and drywall has been hung!  So the form of the interior is really taking shape now.  The outside is getting dressed with beautiful twilight siding accented with chocolate gray stone (not yet installed) and bright white shutters and trim!  Can you say gorgeous?!  I can’t wait to share all the unexpected extras that will be added on the inside!  Custom tile, dramatic stone for the fireplace surround with slate hearth, creamy cabinetry with sparkling granite and a fun pot filler above the upgraded stove! There’s more I’d love to share, but a picture is worth a thousand words, as they say, so I’ll wait a little longer and hopefully have some pictures to display soon!

March 12, 2018

Beautiful columns were added to the front porch along with an adorable craftsman style front door.  The well has been drilled and only went about 125′ with 10 gpm!

The interior close-in inspection will be done this week.  Many architectural features are standard in this home!  Gorgeous arched openings to hallways, between the kitchen and great room, and in the MBA shower!  How fun is that?!  Natural stone will be added as an accent to the front of the home as well as the chimney, and inside as a full surround to the fireplace…all the way to the top of the 14′ cathedral ceiling!

Fun details such as a pot filler above the stove, designer pantry & laundry doors, back splash in the kitchen, custom tile design in the bathrooms, among other things, truly make this an exceptional home!

Come back to see the progress…. insulation, deck, drywall, stone and siding are all coming soon!

March 7, 2018

WOW!  We had a crazy wind storm last weekend and personally, we were without power for the weekend and we know folks who are still without power!  We are hoping they all get their power back soon!!

Even in the midst of that forceful storm our new build stood strong!  We had just begun to do the roof with the black paper having been installed and a portion of the shingles had been laid.  We only lost a little of the paper and no shingles were lost in the wind!

So we now have a roof and the windows are also installed!  They finished pouring the concrete for the slab, garage, and front porch.  The rough-in for plumbing has been finished, the electrical and HVAC are in progress.

We’ve been busy excavating, digging the basement and pouring the footers and walls!  Framing will begin next week.

Early January 2018

We are looking forward to breaking ground in January 2018 on this lovely 5 acre lot just a few miles out of town.  This lot is the backdrop for one level living at it’s best with an open floor plan concept that is popular in today’s architecture.  As you walk into this 1800 sf home, the 14′ cathedral ceiling and gorgeous stone fireplace will instantly grab your attention!  This family gathering space flows nicely into the well-appointed kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite counters, pantry closet with custom door, and a 6′ island and breakfast bar.  Flanked on either side of the main living areas, with arched openings leading to the split bedroom design, are the master suite and laundry; and two bedrooms with a bathroom.  A full unfinished basement with rough-in for a future full bathroom, two car garage, a deck and front porch complete this design.  More features and upgrades will be highlighted as the project unfolds. The floor plan, elevation, and kitchen design will be posted soon!

9047 Settle School Rd., Rixeyville VA

This home was completed just before Thanksgiving 2017.  Take a look at the finished home and see what you think!  Some of my favorite details are the farm sink, kitchen pantry door, stone fireplace surround, arches, stairs/railing, front porch…well I guess I have more favorites than I realized!  Enjoy!

The rough-in for plumbing, HVAC, and electrical are almost complete and the siding, shutters, and gutters have been installed!  Next on the agenda for the interior is insulation and drywall.  Once the drywall is up, it will really begin to take shape! The next step for the exterior is some grading in the back yard and building the deck. Take a peek at the inside with the framed walls and the outside with the new siding.

We’ve come a long way since July 4th!  I still need to upload more recent photos.  The siding will begin being installed Saturday, August 12 so once that is complete a new featured image will be uploaded and other new pics as well!

The pictures above are from the initial clearing of the lot through the roof and windows/doors installation.  The framing began July 8 and just over a month later the siding will be going on the house!  Exciting!!

Decisions, decisions, decisions….

Floor plan and kitchen layout…

Custom built in 2004 with superior quality through-out! Engineered truss floor system, custom paint & landscaping enhance this beauty.  Amenities and detail abound in this home when you consider the trim and moldings, hardwood, ceramic tile, marble, and wrought iron balusters along with many other features.  The open feeling was enhanced with floor to ceiling windows and a two story foyer and family room.  Scroll though the pictures to see the craftsmanship and quality Doug puts into the homes he builds.

  1. Joyce and Doug we just had time to sit down and view all of your work. We are so glad we found you. We love all that you have done. I am hoping that we can indeed find our final home from all of this. Thank you for making this possible. We love the grays but prefer the lighter tones and I love the beige tones that you have in the Rixeyville home bathrooms. Also Richard and I love the full fire place as well as the bronze tones on fixtures. We are so excited to see our new house.

    1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and excitement! We are also glad you found us and are really looking forward to building a home for you that you will love and create lasting memories there. We can certainly talk about the paint color that you’d prefer. We have actually used a light gray color, Sherwin Williams Thunder Gray, I believe, in every home. It may just look different in certain pictures. You don’t have to have gray on your walls; you can select a different color if you’d like. Isn’t the full fireplace beautiful? It’s one of our favorite features. The oil rubbed bronze fixtures add a nice touch too. As I said, we look forward to working with you both on this new project and we can’t wait to get started.

  2. I keep going back to look at details like the bathrooms and their tile, the archways and doors, the farm sink and the special hideaway doors on the laundry.

  3. Wow. Lynn sent us pictures that she took Sunday. Just so excited and thrilled. Looks like from your instagram pictures that your beautiful home is complete. ( at least from the outside ) It looks wonderful.
Looking forward to the next steps on our home!

  4. I’m so glad you saw some pictures! I sent some to Sheila but I guess she wasn’t able to forward them to you. I hope to update this site soon with pictures! They will be pouring the walls today. The framing should begin the end of next week!

We have finally moved into our home! We are still unpacking and trying to get settled in but that is such a long process. We are still finishing up some trim and painting too. You’ll have to come by when you come up to see the progress on your house.

    See you soon!

    1. We did get the pictures from Shelia as well as Lynn’s
I know the unpacking takes awhile as does this packing. But all so worth it !
We look forward to getting out there again soon and stopping in to see your home.
At least we’re inspired to keep on clearing out 40 years of stuff here. Hope all goes well there today.

      1. You’ve got your work cut out for you! Wow!! 40 years! I’m glad Sheila was able to forward the pictures to you. I finally got some on my computer today so I’ll be uploading them to our website soon! Haha! I keep saying that don’t I?
